
For sheer beauty, you can't beat the 1940 Lincoln Continental. This was perhaps the epitome of automotive design with its classic, Art Deco-inspired lines and curves. However, mechanically, the 1940 Lincoln left much to be desired; its 12-cylinder engine, for all its power, was unlikely to last much beyond 40,000 miles – and it was a frequent visitor to local auto repair shops.
